why bone marrow transplant?

Usually, as a last resort, a bone marrow transplant is required to replace the bone marrow cells destroyed by blood diseases or during treatment

Most haematologic (blood) cancers start in the bone marrow, where blood is produced (BMDP, 2020).

They occur through the rapid growth of abnormal blood cells, obstructing normal blood cells from functioning normally.
